Risk Outlook
Official forecast products, with their source, region, time window and uncertainty.
Monitoring
Reports earthquakes after they happen. EQRadar's maps, lists and alerts are monitoring: the USGS catalog usually lists an event within minutes, sometimes longer.
Forecasts
Probabilities that earthquakes above a magnitude will occur in a defined region and time window, with uncertainty. USGS issues aftershock forecasts after significant earthquakes.
Early warning
Detects an earthquake that has already begun and may give seconds of notice before strong shaking arrives (e.g. ShakeAlert on the U.S. West Coast). EQRadar is not an early-warning system.

Earthquake Preparedness
Official guidance
- During shaking: Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
- Secure heavy furniture and keep an emergency kit and plan.
- Near coasts: strong or long shaking can be a natural tsunami warning — move to high ground and follow local officials.
