Privacy

What EQRadar stores and which services are involved. This notice describes the software's behaviour; operators of a deployment are responsible for their own legal notices.

What is stored

  • Saved places, followed volcanoes, notice settings and preferences are stored only in your browser's local storage on this device. They are not sent to EQRadar's servers, and EQRadar has no user accounts or database.
  • Learning Center progress (completed lessons, bookmarks and quiz scores) is stored only on this device under eqradar:v1:learning, and can be reset from the Learning Center.
  • Coordinates you save are rounded to about 100 metres.
  • Your location is requested only when you click “Use my location”, and only to fill in a form on your device.
  • No analytics or advertising trackers are included.

Service providers

  • USGS — EQRadar's server requests earthquake data; your browser does not contact USGS for data, though links you open do.
  • tsunami.gov, api.weather.gov and volcanoes.usgs.gov: EQRadar's server requests tsunami, zone and volcano data. Your browser does not contact them unless you open their links.
  • Esri place search — text you type into a place search box is sent to Esri's geocoding service through EQRadar's server (your IP address is not forwarded).
  • Map tile provider (Esri, for street and satellite tiles) — your browser loads map tiles directly, so these providers receive your IP address and the map area you view.
  • Google Fonts — the Inter font is downloaded at build time and served by EQRadar itself.
  • Hosting provider — as chosen by the operator.
